DOT DOT DOT: A New Musical is an exciting new musical based on the Creatrilogy trio of award-winning picture books by New York Times bestselling author Peter H. Reynolds- The Dot, Ish and Sky Color. Adapted by Composers Keelay Gipson and Sam Salmond, the musical, like the series, celebrates the power of originality, self-expression, and opening our eyes to look beyond the expected.
When Marisol (Sky Color), a young artist and curator of the Musee de Marisol, decides that her gallery requires more than her own art, her search for emerging talent leads her to Vashti (The Dot), whose dots inspire Ramon (Ish) to become an artist in his own right. The musical follows Marisol's journey to help her new friends, and her entire community, break free from self-criticism and learn to let their imaginations soar.

Continuing our tradition of recognizing and honoring Indigenous peoples, the Springer Opera House Theatre is including an additional original production to its current season: On the Far End, a one-woman show that tells the story of an Indigenous rights activist and powerful attorney. In addition to The Mvskoke Project, this production spotlights the rich history, cultural traditions, and ongoing legacy of the Mvskoke (Creek) Nation, whose ancestral lands include Columbus and the surrounding area.
On the Far End is a powerful one-woman show that explores the resilience and experiences of Mvskoke leader and activist Ella Jean Hill. Tracing her family's history from the Trail of Tears to her grandfather's allotment in central Oklahoma, she shares her story in an emotional one-woman play—the Native boarding school she fled on foot, her marriage to a young Bengali scholar, and the advocacy that became her life's work. With On the Far End, a reference to the landmark 2020 Supreme Court opinion in McGirt v. Oklahoma that upheld the sovereignty of the Mvskoke territories, one of America's leading playwrights weaves a deeply personal account of one family and a legacy of broken promises between nations.
On The Far End opens April 17 at 7:30 PM in the Dorothy McClure Theatre as a limited engagement with additional performances on April 18 and 19

Declared “one of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history” by The Washington Post, DEAR EVAN HANSEN is the first musical to take a groundbreaking look — from the point of view of both the parents and young people — at our complex, interconnected, and social media-filled lives.
Evan Hansen is a high school student who always feels like he’s on the outside looking in. Evan finally gets what so many of us are searching for—the chance to finally fit in. What follows is a poignant, funny, and powerful musical about how even though it can be hard, we can find each other—and ourselves—along the way.
Including some of the most iconic musical theatre songs from the last decade, including “You Will Be Found,” “Waving Through A Window,” and “For Forever,” DEAR EVAN HANSEN features an uplifting score by the Emmy ®, Tony ®, Grammy®, and Oscar® winning team behind The Greatest Showman, La La Land, and “Only Murders in the Building” Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Tony Award-winner Steven Levenson.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN is recommended for ages 12 and up and contains adult themes, including discussions of suicide.

A Muscogee family gathers at the home of their matriarch, Lahoma, who is soon to pass over to the other world. As they arrive, a cascade of family tales burst forth. Tales full of ghosts, dreams, tricksters, visions, memories, wild ones who ran away and dutiful caretakers who stayed behind. In returning to their family home in the Muscogee Nation, three generations confront the challenge of celebrating Lahoma’s legacy while striving to honor her memory - and a new path forward.
This is a story of the humor, traditions, struggles, quirks and aspirations of the people whose words we speak every day yet know little about. Featuring a cast of Muscogee (Creek) actors, the Springer welcomes this region’s original citizens back to their ancestral lands for a dramatic Mvskoke homecoming.

Join the CSO for a sensational Friday Night season finale as award-winning pianist Henry Kramer returns to Columbus to take on the impressive Piano Concerto No. 1 by Franz Liszt. A musician of rare sensitivity, Kramer is praised by The Cleveland Classical Review for his “astonishingly confident technique” and The New York Times for “thrilling [and] triumphant” performances. The many moods of Beethoven are perfectly displayed in his stormy Coriolanus Overture paired with his energetic and almost dancing Symphony No. 7.

April 10 - 13, 2025
(Note: The world premiere of The Mvskoke Project has been postponed until April 10 at 7:30 PM due to illness within the cast. Learn more

Our last MUTD program of the season, entitled Rebound to Schubert will begin with several colorful works for percussion instruments, offered by students from the Schwob Percussion Studio under the direction of Dr. Paul Vaillancourt. First up is Velocities, a speedy work for marimba by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, Joseph Schwanter and performed by Sebastian Ocando. Next is Andy Akiho’s Amythest for solo vibraphone, and atmospheric work performed by Lucas White. This will be followed by Iannis Xenakis’ Rebounds B, a fabulous work featuring complex math for a multi-percussion set-up, performed by Isaac Tormey. We’ll conclude the season with two more amazingly beautiful works by Franz Schubert. The first is his Impromptu No. 3, Op. 90 performed by Kisun Kim, and the second is his Impromptu No. 4, Op. 90, performed by Jiayuan Li, both excellent pianists in the studio of Dr. Esther Park, the L. Rexford Whiddon Distinguished Chair in Piano.
Reception at 5 pm with wine and cheese, and a 45-minute concert at 5:37 pm!
